FAQ

What is indie yarn?  Indie yarn is produced in small batches by hand, usually by one or two people.  It is produced by an indie dyer, or someone who creates yarn independently and is not a part of a large commercial company.  Each skein is unique and may vary between batches.

Where is the market located and how do I get there?  The market will be held in the banquet room at the Nile Shrine Center.  The address is 6601 244th St. SW Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043-2750

–  If you’re driving: Coming from either direction on I-5, take exit 177 to merge onto WA-104 W/NE 205th St/Lake Ballinger Way in Mountlake Terrace heading west.  Turn right at 5th Ave NE, under the sign reading “Nile Shrine Center”.  Please be mindful of golfers and carts as you follow the road through the golf course to the clubhouse parking lot.  There will be signage and balloons to direct you to the main entrance and the banquet room is located down the hall to the left after you have entered.

–  If you’re coming via bus: You may take a number of buses to the Mountlake Terrace Freeway Station or to the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center.  It is then a 0.8 mile or 0.6 mile walk respectively to the Nile Shrine Center.  Turn right onto 236th St SW as you leave the transit center and continue onto Lakeview Drive.  You will turn left in about half a mile into the Nile Shrine Center golf course.  Follow the road through the golf course to the clubhouse.  There will be signage and balloons to direct you to the main entrance and the banquet room is located down the hall to the left after you have entered.

Is the marketplace accessible?  Absolutely…there are no stairs this year!  The main entry from the parking lot and the banquet hall are all accessible.  There is even a covered entry to drop off guests if the weather is rainy.

Where can I park?  There is a large paved, parking lot in front of the building.  If that does fill up there will be facility employees to direct you where you may park along the road leading up to the club house.  We do encourage you to carpool with friends to ensure there’s plenty of room for everyone, including those not attending our event and because it’s more fun!

What are the nearby restaurants?  There will be light refreshments, including coffee and tea available during the market.  If you’re looking for something more, there is a restaurant inside the club house, the #19 Bar & Grill that is open depending on the weather.  There is also a Panera Bread nearby and a Starbucks in each direction, one at Aurora Village and one at Ballinger Village.

Are there any hotels nearby?  There is a Studio 6 Seattle just a four mile drive (or a 30 minute walk) from the market location.  There is also a Days Inn by Wyndham Seattle Aurora, a Travelodge by Wyndham Seattle North/Edmonds, and an America’s Best Value Inn Edmonds Seattle N within easy driving distance.
